*REVIEW* – Final review: StayFree Everyday Pantyliners – Flexicomfort Cotton Touch

Hey Bijoux

So I have had the privilege of once again being one of 50 BB readers to try the new Stayfree Flexicomfort pantyliner for 20 days and share my feedback.

I received the package from Beauty Bulletin promptly before the project was meant to begin. Once again, in true professional fashion. The packaging was really simple but quite classy, it made unwrapping very exciting. Inside the package there were two Stayfree Everyday Flexicomfort Cotton Touch pantyliners both scented and unscented. Two were individually wrapped pantyliners small enough to fit into one’s clutch and the other two were the boxed kind.

Halfway through the project – review i posted on the Beauty Bulletin site:

“I must admit that there are moments where I forget that I have the liner on. It’s so light and very adhesive that it does not move around the show when I do. I am absolutely happy that it is thin as well. Totally a product I am going to repurchase. I’m uber finicky about feminine hygiene so I use 2 liners a day, during active hours, I don’t use any for bed time. These give me all day freshness!”

Fast forward to the end of the project and I still feel positive about this product. I generally have sensitive skin so I was worried about reacting. None of my fears materialised  though (yay!)

Final review posted on the Beauty Bulletin site:

“I am absolutely delighted that I was chosen to be a part of this project. It is crazy cool how I managed to both inform/educate people around the plight of feminine hygiene and also get myself out there as a genuine advocate for busting myths about these issues concerning our most private issues – which are UNIVERSAL actually.

These cute little pantyliners are way more than just cute and little. They are a force to be reckoned with. Portable, fresh, light and discreet. I did not experience any discomfort, itching, shifting or funky odours. The product is really affordable and you get to pick if you want them scented or nah!

They are durable and super adhesive meaning that they did not crumple or bunch up on my undies AT ALL. I used 2 a day which sometimes felt like a waste because at the times I wanted to change them they were still fresh. The timing worked out for me to use right after my menstrual cycle as well as just before my next so I was well prepared and didn’t get caught off guard by Aunt Flo.

Overall a good product that I will repurchase and can vouch for.”

REVIEW: Listerine Advanced White Multi-Action Mouthwash

Beauty Bulletin was so kind to select me as one of 50 “savvy women” to try the product out for #2WeeksToBrighterTeeth

I was very excited when the package arrived (see pic above)…So I jumped right in to see the results for myself…not before I got at least one realist’s opinion of course (they weren’t wrong though) – see below

Listerine 2

There were more in the DMs LOL! Grateful for my friends and the truth.

So here goes the review

I must say that I mostly enjoyed using this mouthwash, certainly because it doesn’t burn like regular Listerine. I was really convinced that something would happen because truth be told, Listerine is a trusted brand. After the first week, my teeth had significantly less plaque after food and beverages but I cannot say for sure if my teeth were getting whiter.

By week 2 I was convinced that there was a difference but then I started to react a little, I’m not sure what from exactly but my tongue, inside of lips and palate were certainly feeling somewhat raw. So I stopped using the mouthwash for a few days and the feeling subsided.

I carried on after about a week for another 2 weeks and the feeling in my mouth came back. Which is why I personally cannot repurchase it until I can identify the allergens in it. Other than that I would recommend the product to someone willing to use it correctly – Not to say that I did not use it correctly, the whiter teeth will come from you brushing and then rinsing/gargling with the Listerine Advanced White Mouthwash TWICE A DAY for two weeks straight in order to see the results.

So, personally, I didn’t see my pearly white dreams come true but I actually got to use mouthwash more regularly and tried to dispel some myths, too bad the trial was inconclusive…because you know, allergic reaction.

Available from all leading retailers and pharmacies
Available online from
R49.95 – 250ml
R74.95 – 500ml

Info from brand & Beauty Bulletin

The new Listerine Advanced White is clinically proven to improve the appearance of teeth, with antibacterial agents and fluoride to cleanse and strengthen them.

It kills bad-breath and plaque-causing bacteria with powerful essential oils, strengthens enamel with fluoride, and it helps to lift stains and shield it from future discolorations.

Listerine® Advanced White Multi-Action Mouthwash uses a non-abrasive, polyphosphate technology to whiten teeth in two weeks.

The mouthwash creates a protective shield to help prevent future stains from forming. It contains three essential oils that kill germs and freshen breath.

Final REVIEW: TRESemméSA Botanique Nourish & Replenish Shampoo and Conditioner

Hey there, so the trial period for this awesome new range came and went and I now have my final thoughts about it together in my head and soon on here as well.

As you may (or may not) remember, when I got the package delivered to me I had braids on but that was not going to stop me from getting down and clean hehe. So I used it in my braids and the long and short of it was that I was able to get it through all of my hair and rinse it out, it smelled great and didn’t leave my already dry scalp even drier.

I eventually got rid of the braids about 8 days later. I washed again. Hmmm that yummy smell… But then at the end of it I was not sure if it was because of the braids or what but I had to wash again because apparently I had product build up.

I used the shampoo and Conditioner at each wash whereas I generally mostly co-wash. So either this means that the shampoo is so cool that I can use it more often without it stripping my hair or that I HAVE TO use it more often to get it to work for me.

So final week came and in spite of it being winter I decide to use less product before wash day and protective styling. I suffered through that. I nearly did a chop again. But I stuck it out til wash day came and I used the shampoo once and had accomplished what I wanted to accomplish hehe.
The verdict is that the shampoo is awesome for medium to clean hair not so much for 4C hair with 2 week old product in it (I’m a busy girl yo).

The conditioner is bae. I absolutely love it. So much that I went to get more of it. I now have a protective style on so the shampoo is great for the synthetic hair but man that conditioner is to my actual hair what water is to fish.

You can find the range at Clicks and Dischem (when I actually saw them in the Isles) and when you get there, fill up your basket. Especially with the conditioner.

[REVIEW] First impression – *NEW* TRESemmĂ©SA Botanique Nourish & Replenish Shampoo and Conditioner

My oh my!
How giddy and excited was I to receive these products for me and a friend? All of this, courtesy of the Beauty Bulletin team.

So I’m a kinky haired girl, have been for going on 5 years now and for the last 2, I have had a bit of a [major] hair emergency with dryness and breakage taking centre stage. I decided to put my hair in a protective hair style (pictured below) in order to salvage whatever could be salvaged. Fast forward to about a week later, I get an email letting me know that I made the cut to be a part of the new TressemĂ©SA Botanique Nourish & Replenish Shampoo and Conditioner project. I legit wanted to cry because I just never seem to be able to find what my hair likes for longer than 3months before it turns into a crisis all over again.

Protective Style I decided to do to manage the crisis

Anyway, I decided to wash my hair while it is still in the protective style (referred to as PS from here on out) because my scalp had also started to flake and ache due to the dryness that just won’t let up. I have really dry skin and I tend to suffer from bouts of eczema now and again.

I used the new range by TressemeSA that is pretty much what I have been craving to find in a product (obviously I must still try it for long enough to see if I will stick with it forever. I already use TressemĂ©SA products now its just a matter of finding and sticking to what works for me).

“TRESemmĂ© BOTANIQUE is a new professional-quality wash & care system for the natural seeking woman. The formula, free from parabens, dyes & silicones, with natural ingredients and lower sulphates, provides dry hair with moisture satisfying Afro-haired and Caucasian-haired natural seekers alike.”

When reading the above about these products, the sceptic in me was like “nope, can’t be” because I’ve run into so many products that promise lots of things dishonestly. Reading that about the products also encouraged me to just dive in (Hahaha flipfloppidy, I know).

Needless to say, my first wash (with the PS) was pleasant; not only does this product smell great (coconuty) it also felt as though I got the clean feeling without the stripped feeling. I also (especially) love the creamy and moisturising texture of the conditioner (I am a fan of co-washes).

TresseméSA Botanique Nourish & Replenish Shampoo

The shampoo is in the dark green bottle and the conditioner is in the white (in true TressemĂ© fashion).

Creamy and moist texture of the Conditioner

I’m really hooked on the smell though to be honest. I’m yet to see how my hair responds in the long run. I have a work trip to Durban (KZN province, South Africa) this week and will be needing the PS for the duration,  however, as soon as I get back I’m taking it down and going in for wash numero dos!

Stay tuned on here to find out how the journey plays out and ends up! You can also check out my instagram feed as well for all updates on the hashtag #LongLiveNaturalHair (Love it!)

  • PnP
  • Shoprite

REVIEW: mark. by Avon Cosmetics – Lipsticks

When Avon Cosmetics released their new beauty brand, mark. By Avon in South Africa, I was curious to find out what it all meant for Avon as a brand. Me being an “Avon Lady” or “Rep” I obviously had to be in the know about the quality of the “new” kids on the block. Truth is I was skeptical because I honestly thought that they had just changed the packaging and stuck a name to it to make a point. I was pleasantly surprised to note that it was an actual thing. They have lipsticks, mascaras, lip-glosses, the works! I was all the more surprised to see that the brand was as big abroad as they had made  it out to seem here at home.

Anyways…on to the review…

So I am a thick-lipped girl and brightly coloured lipsticks are a lot of the times a “no-no” for me, mostly because it looks tacky and too much. Way extra! But I love that I can use it to lighten a dark lip or create an ombre look with the colours featured in this review, namely Starburst Pink and Rapid Rose. I also love that they create the perfect subtle lip for the dramatic smokey eye that I love.

These lippies are super pigmented. I love that the colour is rich and that they are more moisturising than I expected them to be. I love that (even though I am reviewing just these two colours) there are a lot of colours to choose from, ranging from deep and rich to the light and subtle. They are inexpensive and give you quality that slightly surpasses the price tag. The packaging is uber cool!

These two colours are too light for me specifically, BUT they could work wonders for YOU. Because they are lustrous, they are too thin for me and end up looking cracked, unless I really cake it on. If I do cake ’em on, it looks way too extra. No winning really.

But overall, I’m keen to give all of the colours a chance as time goes by and perhaps I will find my perfect match.

Like I mentioned in the pros, the packaging is quite edgy and fun and think it moves Avon from a mommy brand to a more hip brand (in my opinion).

I think Avon is on to something with this one. Way to go Avon Cosmetics.

REVIEW: SwiitchBeauty #SlaysForDaysPallette

I recently took a leap and made one of my first local online purchases and needless to say, I was quite nervous. Thoughts such as “Will the product find its way to me?” or “What if they scam me…” and even “What then if it doesn’t work?” I tend to be a little bit of a skeptic when it comes to online shopping but boy oh boy was I pleasantly surprised.

I ordered this amazing 35 pot pallette on Sunday morning (5 March 2017) and it got delivered at the intended address on Tuesday mid-morning (7 March 2017). It was securely wrapped and even had my personalised message on there (nice touch!).

I adore the Rose Gold typeface on the box and was pleasantly surprised by how lightweight but stable it is. The colours are highly pigmented and are rich and buttery…whatever that means. They feel great ok! LOL

While this pallette is great (and trust me I do mean it), I wish the colours had names that I could refer to. Perhaps also if there could be refills as well. That would totally earn this product a solid 15 out of 10.

I’m definitely going to be obsessing about this for a little while. xx
